Indonesia to Host the 2026 ASEAN U-17 Championship, The Race for Southeast Asia’s Rising Stars Begins

The 2026 ASEAN U-17 Men’s Championship is the 21st edition of the Southeast Asian youth soccer tournament organized by the ASEAN Football Federation.

The competition will take place in Indonesia from April 11 to 24, 2026.

The Greater Surabaya area in East Java will serve as the main host of the tournament.

Eligible players are those born on or after January 1, 2009.

A total of 12 teams will participate in the tournament without a qualifying round.

Participating nations include Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste.

The group draw took place on March 6, 2026, in Jakarta.

Group A consists of host Indonesia, along with Vietnam, Malaysia, and Timor-Leste.

Group B includes Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Group C comprises Australia, Cambodia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam.

Matches are being held at two stadiums: Gelora Joko Samudro Stadium and Gelora Delta Stadium.

As of the latest update, a total of 18 matches have been played, with 64 goals scored.

The current top scorer is Georgio Hassarati with six goals.

This tournament is viewed as a key event for assessing the future of Southeast Asian soccer.
