The number of train passengers in the Daop 9 Jember region saw a significant increase during the 2026 International Workers' Day, or May Day, holiday.
PT KAI recorded more than 22,000 passengers using train services during the long holiday period.
The surge in passengers occurred during both departures and arrivals at several major stations in the Daop 9 Jember region.
The Legal and Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 9 Jember explained that the high level of public mobility indicates that interest in rail transportation continues to rise.
Some of the public’s favorite routes during the holiday period included trips to Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta.
Rail travel remains a popular choice among the public because it offers comfort, safety, and punctuality.
To anticipate passenger congestion, KAI implemented various service measures, such as adding staff and managing passenger flow in station areas.
Additionally, train operations are ensured to run smoothly to maintain optimal service for the public during the holiday period.
The public is also urged to arrive at the station early to support a more orderly and comfortable boarding process.
This increase in passenger numbers is seen as a positive sign for the transportation and tourism sectors, in line with the rising public mobility during the long holiday.
