Government Strengthens National Sports Industry Through Inter-Ministerial Collaboration

The government continues to strengthen the development of the national sports industry through inter-ministerial cooperation as part of efforts to drive economic growth and enhance the competitiveness of domestic industries.

The sports industry is considered to have a broad economic impact as it is linked to the manufacturing and trade sectors, as well as increased economic activity among the public.

One concrete step was taken through the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Diversified Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry and the Deputy for Sports Industry Development of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on April 30, 2026, in Jakarta.

This cooperation aims to strengthen the development of the national sports industry so that it is more focused, modern, and capable of competing at the international level.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that the sports industry must become a vital component of the national industrial strengthening strategy while simultaneously supporting Indonesia’s economic self-reliance.

This collaboration covers several key areas, such as strengthening the integration of sports industry data, developing more structured planning, and improving product quality through national and international standards.

The government is also encouraging the use of domestic sports products through the implementation of the Local Content Requirement (TKDN) in various national sports activities and events.

In addition, the use of local products is expected to strengthen the national manufacturing industry while opening up broader market opportunities for sports businesses in Indonesia.

Through this inter-ministerial collaboration, the government is optimistic that the national sports industry can grow stronger, create new jobs, and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian-made sports products in the global market.

Moving forward, similar collaborations are expected to continue expanding so that the sports sector not only develops as a competitive activity but also becomes a driver of the creative economy and national industry.
