The ADEM Program Opens Doors for the Papuan Generation to Study Abroad

The Secondary Education Affirmative Action Program (ADEM), administered by the government, has become a pathway for Papua’s youth to access better education, even abroad.

This program not only opens up access to education but also helps improve the quality of human resources so they can contribute to their home regions.

One of the beneficiaries, Yohanes (Anes), after completing his undergraduate degree, continued his master’s studies in tourism and hospitality management at the University of Florida, United States, through a scholarship.

He believes ADEM plays a crucial role in broadening horizons and providing opportunities for Papuan youth to grow and bring positive change to their region.

In the future, he aspires to work in the government sector or become an academic, while also developing tourism businesses in Papua.

Additionally, Wiruri Helena Aprilean Rarawi has also experienced the significant impact of this program.

She stated that ADEM has transformed her life by providing the opportunity to study abroad, ultimately enabling her to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

This program has also helped shape her character and broaden her life experiences.

Overall, ADEM serves as a vital platform for Papua’s youth to access higher education, broaden their global perspectives, and prepare themselves to become agents of change for regional development.
