The government has allocated a budget of Rp12 trillion to support the national agricultural sector.
The program includes grants for plantation crops and irrigation development in various regions of Indonesia.
This policy was announced by Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman during a meeting with hundreds of regents in Jakarta.
Of the total funds, approximately Rp9.95 trillion has been allocated for crop grants to be provided free of charge to farmers.
The assistance covers commodities such as sugarcane, coffee, cocoa, cashews, nutmeg, and coconuts.
The target area to be covered reaches 870,000 hectares.
In addition to plant seedlings, the government is also providing organic fertilizer to boost agricultural productivity.
Meanwhile, more than Rp3 trillion has been allocated for the irrigation sector.
The program includes the development of 30,000 hectares of new rice fields and the installation of irrigation pumps targeting 1.5 million hectares of farmland.
The government has also opened registration for 80,000 water pumps to assist drought-prone areas.
The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that assistance will be prioritized for regions that are active and responsive to central government programs.
The distribution of assistance is not uniform but is based on the potential and readiness of each region.
The government also reported that national rice production has reached 4.9 million tons and is expected to soon surpass 5 million tons.
This program is part of the effort to achieve national food self-sufficiency, which is a priority of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
