The Governor of Bank Indonesia officially opened the new building of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for West Papua Province and its official residence in Manokwari on Saturday.
The inauguration took place with the signing of a commemorative plaque and was attended by BI Deputy Governor Aida S. Budiman, West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan, and a number of other local officials.
The BI Deputy Governor stated that the construction of these facilities was the result of collaboration among various parties in addressing regional challenges.
The office building and official residence are described as a manifestation of Bank Indonesia’s commitment to providing the best working facilities to support its duties in the region.
The new facilities are also expected to foster professionalism and innovation in addressing future economic challenges.
This new complex is considered strategic because it combines the concepts of a modern office and integrated housing within a single area.
Bank Indonesia’s West Papua office is the first regional office to implement this concept.
The implementation of this concept emphasizes a modern work culture, work-life balance for employees, and environmentally friendly principles.
The Governor of West Papua stated that the building’s inauguration is not merely a physical construction project, but a symbol of BI’s presence and commitment to sustainable regional development.
He also commended BI for its continued consideration of the local environment, culture, and community.
Functionally, the new building is expected to serve as a hub for strategic policy collaboration in West Papua and the surrounding areas.
The office is intended to strengthen regional inflation control, expand payment digitalization through QRIS, ensure the availability of fit-for-circulation rupiah banknotes even in remote areas, and support local SMEs to become more competitive.
