Bulog's Paddy Procurement Exceeds 3 Million Tons, Strengthening National Food Security

Perum Bulog reported that the national procurement of paddy and rice from farmers had reached more than 3 million metric tons of rice equivalent as of June 3, 2026.

The total procurement achieved reached 3.01 million metric tons of rice equivalent, or approximately 75 percent of the government’s 2026 national procurement target of 4 million metric tons.

Perum Bulog Director General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani described this achievement as a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen the national food system.

In less than six months, Bulog has come close to meeting the annual target, which has long been one of the main challenges in maintaining a balance between protecting farmers, strengthening food reserves, and ensuring price stability.

This success is the result of collaboration among various parties, ranging from farmers, central and local governments, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), agricultural extension workers, rice mills, to all Bulog personnel across various regions.

The high absorption of the harvest indicates that farmers’ production is being effectively absorbed, thereby providing market certainty and supporting improved farmer welfare.

Bulog also views this achievement as reflecting the effectiveness of government policies in maintaining grain prices through the implementation of the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of Rp6,500 per kilogram.

This policy provides protection for farmers by ensuring that their harvests can be purchased at a fair price amidst market fluctuations.

In addition to supporting farmers, the high volume of paddy procurement has also bolstered the Government’s Rice Reserve, which has now exceeded 5 million tons.

This reserve serves as a crucial tool for maintaining rice price stability, supporting food aid programs, and meeting needs during disasters or market fluctuations.

With the harvest season still underway in several strategic regions, Bulog is optimistic that the national procurement target of 4 million tons of rice equivalent can be achieved even before the end of the year.

This achievement is seen as a positive indicator of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen food self-reliance and build a sustainable food security system.
